REMBRANDT'S HUYS - HOME, AMSTERDAM IN 1656 by Menno Balm. This book describes how a civil servant of the city of Amsterdam enters the house of Rembrandt on July 25, 1656. He is going to take stock of Rembrandt's belongings. Anything of value is noted down and will be auctioned off in the near future. Rembrandt is bankrupt. Menno Balm has also  illustrated this book.

Some of the artwork depicts the surrounding areas of Amsterdam in the 17th century. One of these picturesque sites is the Little Stink Mill, on the outskirts of the city. The mill was given this name for a very good reason: here, they softened leather bu treating it with very pungent cod-liver oil.
