Our Art Collection as a Jewel, the Rembrandt Book Collier Silver, dogs by Rembrandt.
Lyske Gais en Lia Duinker, two Dutch artists, are creating a new analogue artwork from digital collections. The Rembrandt House Museum's online collection was the basis for this miniature publication in which digital material becomes tangible and portable again. They have made a light-hearted selection of Rembrandt's etchings - the many dogs that play major and supporting roles in Rembrandt's oeuvre are transformed into gems. Look for your favourite dog in the museum's online collection database and discover what role it plays in the story of etching.
The collier is a miniature book with 112 pages (120 gr biotop paper, cover of tyvac, tear- and waterproof) depicting the dogs out of etchings by Rembrandt. All pages are 20 x 32.4 mm with silver edges. The chain is leather with a silver lock and measures 40 cm. The hanging bookmark is about 75 mm long with a little drop of about 1 gram solid Sterling silver. A booklet about the content and technique of the making of this collier is included and presented in a black giftbox with silver imprint, 168 x 168 x 53 mm.
Heel verfijnd, en leuk om telkens weer in te bladeren. In miniatuur!
